An epic contest at Gillette Stadium

That was a memorable football game, one of the best that this stadium has seen. The Jets came out on top, 34-31 in overtime, to take sole possession of first place in the AFC East.

After the game, the Patriots locker room had a predictably somber tone, with Richard Seymour and Tedy Bruschi among those willing to reflect on the game. Seymour was impressed with the fight the Patriots showed in coming back from a large deficit.

There was also plenty of discussion regarding how impressive Matt Cassel performed, how sensational Randy Moss’ end-of-regulation touchdown catch was, and how terrific rookie Jerod Mayo has played.

After two games in five days, the Pats now have some time to rest up, but next Sunday’s game at Miami is looming quite large.

Thanks for checking out the blog tonight and for all of your comments. We’ll be back next week.
